Image
Week 18 Final Submission This week, I refined my rationale video and arrange the files folders that need to be submitted. Presentation slide Here is the Google link Project Background Normal people take notes on their phone or digital notepad to remember things. Similarly, blind people use audio recording to keep track of tasks and plans. They carry essential items every day, which use up their memory. Problem statement However, phone recording is inconvenient for them as it may record voice instructions and the files are disorganized without labels. They have to go through more steps to find the recording they want. Device Overview   Function Record & Playback Main features  3 main Braille buttons Item Task Phone number Target Audience Blind workers Place Wearable device Rationale Our brains have a limited capacity for memory storage, so taking notes is a common way to remember important information. Similarly, blind people also rely on note-taking to keep track of thei

Visit Blind Agencies and show them my product - Week 17

Week 17 Beta Test This week, I visited them and there are 5 blind workers participating in my user test. The reason for doing this is to know if am I doing the things that are needed for them and comments for continued improvement. This is the survey form and below are the user responses. Insights 100% of them believe the product assists blind workers in taking notes. 100% of them like the concept of the product. 100%of them know how to use the product. 100% of them can recognize the braille on the device and define them clearly. 100% of them think the device should be smaller and is able to with them everywhere they go. 100% of them claim that the volume is soft, and needs to increase the volume a bit higher. 40% of them think I should add in meeting note button because the blind worker will record the long session for the meeting. 60% of them think I should add in sound notification to indicate to users they can start recording. 40% of them think that I should add voice-over when

Device retouching and contact organisation - Week 16

Image
Week 16 Contact another organization for services for the blind Due to several days of waiting for the reply, I try to call the phone number of the organization that I followed up with. The operator told me that he had already relayed the message to his supervisor and told me to wait for his supervisor's reply. Since I was concerned that my email had been flooded, I sent it again to make sure they saw my message. In addition, I also looked on Google Maps for other organizations that also serve the blind and sent them a message. In total, I found and contacted 3 different organizations. On these few days, the different organizations gave me different responses, all of which were willing to try out my created product, and the visited date was confirmed and gathered on the following week, which is on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, respectively. The pictures shown were the response from the different operating organizations. Stabilizing the wires connection This week, I resolder so

Week 15 Color Spray Paint I visited a hardware store and thankfully it had so many choices of beautiful colors to choose from. I bought 4 colors of spray paint to try out with the previously no-used 3d printing device. Results References Color I manage to have 2 colors applied to this device, something like this, Simulation of the pure color green placement The full body will be white, with some little color on it. Spray Paint Grey blue and white are the two colors I chose to use for the product. I polished the device's surface using sandpaper. Next, start by painting the product with a light coat of white, then gradually cover it with thick spray paint. The front and back side of the device were painted white whereas other parts were painted grey-blue. Outcome Send an email to the blind service organization This week, I also send an email to the organization. Finished Solder them to a board - Week 14

Image
Week 14 Soldering all of them I then asked for technical consultation that the problem of noise occurs after solder although it can work. Then, I get to know that the code is correctly working, it was all based on the soldering connection problem which mean, I need to solder properly, then It can work smoothly. In the second video, I showcased the scale of the Arduino circuit after solder. Readjust the device size with the consideration of blind workers use it in their workplace The size of the device now is bigger than the previous size I proposed, I also added the pattern for the speaker part and attached them with magnets without screws. Holes for the magnet. I place it at the center to have more space for the component inside. And for the magnet, I choose a medium size of magnet to make sure it can hold the other part of the device. User testing During this period, I also do a small user test and provide them scenario. 3d printing progress It looks like that's
